NHL Stanley Cup Chase
7-4 Ducks FINAL
Ducks lead series 2-1
Game Notes
Edmonton is getting run out of the building in Anaheim, and the shape of it tells the story. The Ducks didn’t just out‑finish the Oilers tonight—they out‑read them, out‑waited them, and pounced on every loose seam Edmonton offered. Anaheim’s speed through the middle kept turning Edmonton’s gaps into rush lanes, and once the Ducks stacked a couple of quick ones, the game tilted into that uncomfortable, scrambling posture the Oilers never handle well on the road. Even with McDavid looking like himself again, the support layers behind him kept fraying, and Anaheim feasted on it.
At 7–4 with 1:18 left, this one is basically written in ink. Dostal gave them enough early, Gauthier kept driving the knife, and Anaheim’s depth did the rest. Edmonton got their goals—they always do—but they never controlled the temperature of the night, never dictated pace, never forced the Ducks into the kind of structured grind that usually breaks young teams. Instead, Anaheim played downhill for long stretches, and the Oilers chased. It’s a loss that doesn’t end a series, but it absolutely changes its weather.
Ducks: Dostal
Oilers: Ingram
